(( -wiggles- Oh good! I'm happy you're having a good time ^.^ I'm an RP addict so if you're ever bored then you know who to come to when wanting to RP or wanting to know about other forums... I frequent them waaay too much ^_^ ) Lilah was even happier to see that Ruskin's tail was active and out from under his stomach, turning her head to listen to him as he spoke but not twisting her body as much to avoid straining her ribs and rump where the injury lay. Emerald eyes blinked up at him in thought, taking in his suggestion and pausing in her step. "That might be a good idea...," she began with, then jutted out her bottom jaw in further thought and more of a pouting appearance, "But the situation may grow worse if they were to scent you while hiding. It would probably look like you were prowling and sneaking up on us... perhaps if you stay back far enough so that you are visible but not near enough to be recognised or deemed a threat? That should give me enough time to explain to which ever rank we cross." Lilah began to walk once more, the trees thinning slowly as they travelled and turned her head again to the newcomer Ruskin in question, seeking to hear his opinion.

Ruskin's ears twitched as he thought this over for a moment, then nodded in agreement. "That's probably the wisest course of action," he said, stepping up so that he stood almost at her side, but slightly behind in a respectful way. He blinked and looked at her shyly for a moment, having to turn his head slightly to the right as he studied her with his left eye. The pupil of his right had a scar running through the pupil itself, as well as above and below the socket. It was obvious that exceedingly sharp claws had been at work there.
"Anything I can do to help you with your injury?" he offered, suddenly. It almost pained him to have to see a fellow wolf that way, especially one who had cut him a major break.

Ever since the hunt in which Lilah had injured herself, Rouch had been a non-stop ball of worry. Though, that really wasn't anything new to those who knew him well. Beta was always worried about something, whether it be the Chicotah or the whereabouts of Alphas. He had to calm himself down! Lilah could take care of herself, and if she was in trouble she'd send up a howl. Delta was stubborn, but not that stubborn. So now he stood in the middle of a pathway, debating whether or not he should go find Lilah or go find possible new recruits. Mind reeled, and so Rouch simply remained in place. Not moving an inch in a period of ten minutes, all at once that smell he had come to know and adore entered his nostrils. Well, it seemed the choice had been made for him. But what was this behind her? A smell he knew, but could not quite place. Hm, well if it was an ambush it wouldn't work for the smell was right there and easy to notice. A canine-like shrug was offered, as he padded forth to fuss over her wounds and how she shouldn't be out and about like this.
As he drew closer, the smell became almost ominous. Gaze narrowed, and at once the memory of that smell came rushing back to him. The night he and Cronic had been patrolling, an ambush struck. The smell stuck with him forever. Chicotah. The friendly and worry filled greeting he was about to give Lilah halted, and he padded forth with a somber tone. When the two finally met his voice came out in less then a whisper, "What in the name of hell are you doing with a Chicotah?" The tone was one that was rarely used around energy filled female, it was that of a Commander. Demanding why she dare let the enemy into a secret base camp. "And don't dodge around it Lilah." Doubtful she would, but he had to make sure. He had to know if she had gone to the enemy or simply gone out of her mind. No Chicotah could be trusted. Not one.
So why was one roaming about their camp? A question he was going to have answered or blood would be shed.

Stepping from the brush, Ruskin revealed himself physically to the Beta. It would have been pointless to try and continue to hide, as he would have been sniffed out eventually. He also didn't want to see Lilah hurt. Stopping a ways away from the Aryian Beta, he lowered his head in a sign of respect."Don't blame her... She's merely cut me a break," explained the misfit. "I come with peaceful intent, and bear no ill-will to you or your pack."

Lilah's eyes blinked over at Ruskin and smiled wider at his offer. "I'm afraid there's nothing much else that can be done," she motioned her head to her injured side and snorted at it in annoyance, "But thankyou for the offer anyway. Now, we better get you partly hidden just in case we-" The Delta's smiling face and cheerful tone was neutralised as Rouch's presence became known with an intense tone in his voice. Lilah's head snapped over to the Beta, sinking instinctively in submission. She had never been spoken to like this before and she was surprised how much she felt upset over it. It was Rouch after all.
Well, he had every right to be angry with her, she decided within her own thoughts, but that couldn't silence the small whimpering she released from his angered tone. The small female did not get a chance to speak up however as Ruskin stepped forward himself. Emerald eyes widened as he stood up to the Beta and quickly moved inbetween the two males with a warning look at the newcomer. He was going to have his nose bitten off, no matter how honourable his intentions were. "Please...," her head then turned to look up at Rouch's strong form, "Beta Rouch. I found this former Chicotah wolf around the borders. After approaching him with much caution he proved to be trustworthy... well, to me anyway."
Her ears dropped further but she continued on. She'd given Ruskin her word that she would explain things to the Beta so that unnecisarry fighting would not take place. "If he sought to bring harm on Aryia, he would have done so easily to me. I am neither a warrior nor in prime health. Please Rouch...," she looked at him taking a few steps back in submission, "I wouldn't endanger Aryia... never."

While the Chicotah's explanation should have set his mind at ease, it only set him farther on the edge. Lip lifted in a snarl, forgetting completely that Breakbone himself had a Whiteback that was almost like a son to him. "I do not believe I asked for you to speak." His voice was soft, dangerous. If he was accepted into the pack, there was not even the slimmest of chances he would ever work his way up past Omega. Sharp glance was transfered to Lilah as she tried to explain why he should even think of accepting the enemy into their lands. The soft whimper that came from her put an ache in the depths of his heart, he'd have to apologize later. This was Lilah after all, not some foolish new recruit who was stupid enough to listen to a Chicotah and bring him to the lands without a decent explanation. But Lilah also had a soft heart, she trusted to easily. A few words of hating the Chicotah here and there - Surely they taught their spies well - and boom.
Glance was shot back toward the misfit, as Lilah explained herself. Some how, the explanation did not set his mind at ease. "He could be a spy. Words mean nothing this day and age." Though he spoke to Lilah, his gaze not once traveled off the Chicotah. "Did you ever think he was trying to gain our trust? Only to strike when we are at our most vulnerable?" The thought presented a fresh fog of rage, that was only broken by Lilah's soft features. Her submission seemed to clear away the rage that had come when he had first learned of their new comer's heritage. He himself had accepted a Whiteback Ayrian mix. But it's not the same! His mind persisted, She was not born into their lands! Not born under their ways! Once a Chicotah always a Chicotah. So what was he to do? Simply allow this beast into the lands without a problem? No. But ... Lilah had faith in him.
Perhaps stationing him with a guard? Just to make sure that no secret meetings were held? Yes, that would work. "If you expect me to accept him into our lands without a problem - you do not know me Lilah. But seeing as you have faith in him, he's your problem." He stepped forward then, speaking to Ruskin himself, "If you even think of harming anyone in this pack - So help you god, I will rip you limb from limb. You are accepted as a Subordinate, perhaps if you're lucky you will work your way up to Omega. I do not trust you Chicotah. You are to be with a long-time member of Ayria at all times, if I catch you without one you will be exiled. Since Lilah has so much trust in you, she can tell you the basics. I'm watching you." With that he turned and strolled back toward Lilah, passing her he whispered one thing, "Watch yourself." And continued on his merry way.

Ruskin backed down after the Beta scolded him, tail between his legs. He stood by and watched as Rouch interrogated Lilah, knowing that stepping up had only made things worse. Yet, it was in his nature to act as such. He'd taken a liking to Lilah, and didn't want to see her end up in hot water on his account.
After Rouch explained that Ruskin would have to stay by Lilah's side, the young Chicotah nodded wordlessly and backed up a bit. The Beta had made it clear that he did not trust Ruskin, and this only made him wonder what it would take for Rouch to do so. Perhaps he would never be trusted... By anyone except Lilah, of course. He would never do anything to betray the trust she held for him, as misguided as her actions might have seemed to the Beta.
As he watched the Beta move along on his way, Ruskin turned to Lilah. "Sorry about that," he apologized, tail still between his legs. While any anger she felt would clearly have been justified, he hoped that she could forgive him.

She was barely standing her ground as it was, but Rouch's orders and feelings were clear. She couldn't mess this up. The Delta could hardly control her way of life and judging others though, but she could always be careful. Still the Beta's hate-filled words were stabbing at her insides making her feel even smaller. She had never known for him to have so much hate and it frightened her. Lilah continued to stay quiet and attentive throughout the ordeal, auds slowly rising in a tiny ray of hope as Rouch spoke quietly to her before leaving the two behind.
He was either going to inform the Alpha's or brood away somewhere private. Either way, Lilah knew better than to follow him. "I did not expect him to be so blunt. I apologise," she turned her form toward Ruskin who was apologetic himself and looking rather shaken, "These are hard times however, but cheer up. If you prove your word then I am sure you will find a place sooner than expected within Aryia."
It was a half-lie, but only to keep Ruskin's spirits up. She would have hated for him to quit after such a controversial meeting, after all the trouble she'd gone through to get him not torn to shreds by the Beta or Alphas. "Well, I do not mind accompanying you throughout Aryia," she nodded up at him, a smile returning to her features, "But I may have to introduce you to some other packmembers. I cannot move around so actively as I should beable to with my injury."

Ruskin nodded in acknowledgement, even though he could sense the false hope behind her words. While he had a tendency to be foolish, his instincts were still fairly sharp. Yet, he was just glad that she wasn't angry with him. He had no intention of giving up; not so long as he had her support.
"Thanks," he said gratefully. "What should we do now?" His tail shook a few times as he tried to wag it, but with little success. If the Beta had been so hateful, what would the others of Aryia be like? Surely they wouldn't all be as accepting as Lilah... And even if he was accepted in, how many would be able to see past his blood?

It made Lilah smile with a little more enthusiasm to see Ruskin try and wag his tail no doubt this had been a stressful day. He'd probably wandered in here half expecting to die. Lilah felt her smile drop ever so slightly and evolve into a screwed up face. She'd never have enough coursage to do that; but then again she'd grown up and always had a supportive pack. She'd never felt like an outsider here.
"Well, I can show you around the main social areas of Aryia," she gave a small shrug, "Perhaps pass by the hunting grounds if you're hungry. There is also a stream not too far ahead if you are thirsty from your journey." She motioned in the direction of water with her chocolate crested head, same shaded ears flicking about gently to small sounds, seeing if she could locate any other packmembers.

"Perhaps we should go to the social areas first; clear the air of any misconceptions... Otherwise I'm not sure if letting my guard down to drink or eat would be the best of ideas..." he said, seriously. However, he did try to keep his tone light-hearted.
As far as he was concerned, he'd come this far; there was no point in taking a rest now. The foreign wolf watched with interest as Lilah listened for something, observing how her ears twitched to the slightest audible ambience. She seemed nervous, somehow. All that he could do was wonder why.

Lilah nodded before taking some more steps forward, feeling her back legs stumble slightly and she growled at them. "Stupid body...," she then turned to Ruskin with an embarrassed smile, "Sorry. I'm just not used to not being able to run about. It can get on my nerves. Now, your idea sounds like a good one. I shall lead you to the social den of Aryia and we can mingle." She chuckled softly at her last comment before winking and moving forward once more, walking a little slowly than she had before.
No use risking making her injury worse. She would hate to be like this longer, but she hated sitting still entirely... She was trying to find a balance. Like Aryia's balance. It's beauty was so natural it sometimes made one ache to see it. Bountiful lands full of flora and fauna, rivers and streams, and the sky always had a radiance. Even if it were a raging storm, it never looked dull here in Aryia. Lilah hoped Ruskin would learn to see this as his true home. Even if it did take a little time.

Smiling softly, Ruskin nodded as Lilah explained her agitation toward her injury. Yet again he wondered just what had happened. "Alright," he said. "but try not to move too quickly; you don't need to go injuring yourself further."
Walking close behind her, the former Chicotah examined the lush landscape. The rumored beauty of this land was indeed an understatement. It now seemed clear to him why the Chicotah envied this land so; it was paradise compared to his previous home. That was when the thought finally crossed his mind; what if the Chicotah were wiped from existence? How much more peaceful would the rest of their world be? Ruskin merely hoped to see a day when all of the territories could be as wonderful as this, and that perhaps he would play a part - no matter how minor - in the realization of that vision.
(Sure! I'll follow you into the thread once it's created. ^.^))
