The little colt ran and raced the dog for quite some distance until the black and white collie ran off. Now he was bored again! But tired, too. He turned and started his way back to where he saw the mare. However, when he turne aorund, he realized he had ran too far and both she and the stallion where no longer in sight! He didn't know where the human boy was that took care of him was, either! Now Freewind felt scared and so alone. The sun was starting to set on the day. At night he knew there were more dangers. That's why the human boy always kept him inside a wooden built stable of sorts at night, to keep him away from dangers.
His ears flattened as he started to roam around and look. There was no luck. He couldn't even smell them now. He could smell scents like that of the cat that tried attacking him, which meant he was closer to the Roumeg territory now. But he didn't know it was theirs. Thankfully the memory of that cat made him turn away. That way would lead to more cats that owuld try to attack him.
Eventually he got too tired to carry on. He nickered patheticly, scared and hopeless. He wanted to be back with the human boy and in the warm, comfortable stable However, he was forced to lay down in the tall grass. No trees around. Just grass, and more grass around. Originally he hadn't run too far from the mare, but his wandering around made him lose her by nearly a mile.
"Nothing will attack freewind... if he stays quiet." Whispered the foal as he lowered his head and tucked in his long legs.

Rickshaw blinked. There was trouble. Leaping back, darting over logs as the sun began to set it's colored glare onto the earth's crust. Running, leaping and dodging trees and as the cold air nipped his hinds he took a final leap and saw the blonde colt. Leaping, he landed beside the blonde foal.
Rickshaw put his hind legs behind the colt, and front by his hooves. He stood over the colt, trying to form enough protection and warmth of being a three foot collie and chicotah mix.

Beltane had gorged himself on the sweet, high grass of the plains. He'd quenched his thirst and had spent a few hours resting. A few more weeks of this and he'd be back to his old self. Shaking the dust and dead grass out of his mane, Beltane stood. He rarely laid down but he'd been so tired, he had permitted himself the small luxury.
Snorting, he lifted his head into the air and inhaled deeply. The stallion lifted his upper lip to catch even more scents. Night was descending and he realized that, whether he liked it or not, he'd have to keep an eye out for both the mare and the little colt. If this paradise was to be his new home, he'd have to start protected it.
He whinnied shrilly, loud enough to let any straying predators know that a healthy stallion was in the vincinity--hopefully that alone would scare them off. He figured that Tempest could look after herself for the time being, but the young cold would need some guarding. Beltane was aware that the young one had a human who looked after it (he could smell it on him), but he would rather be safe than sorry.
Where had the little runt run off to? He'd been playing with that mutt.
The greyish stallion started off at a canter--not quite walking, not quite at a full gallop--nickering now and then to get the attention of the foal. A few moments later, he found the mutt's scent. Hopefully, the little one had stayed near the dog. Beltane picked up the pace, now at a flat run, and headed toward the smell, making as much noise as possible. Best to seem confident and unafraid of whatever dangers might be lurking in the darkness.

Freewind
Freewind was thankful for the canine joining him once again. The thick fur of the dog was much warmer than his own coarse, short fur. The colt gave a thankful nicker to him and wiggled a bit to get comfortable beneath his legs once more. He didn't mind sleeping out here, so long as he had someone else with him that he could use for warmth and protection. Otherwise he would be afraid something would try to eat him. Noises from far in the distance made his ears twitch. Soon they stood erect when he heard, and soon felt those heavy hooves of the stallion running through the darkening lands. Head lifted a bit and he peeked around the canine's legs and peered into the dark befalling the plains, though saw nothing as of yet. Was this the good stallion? Or perhaps it was a mean one come to stomp all over them or run them off into the Roumeg territory to be eaten. He prayed it was the nice one!

Rickshaw
The collie gave an immediate, and positive caring nuzzle in return and reply of the gentle, low pitch nicker. Still, Rickshaw felt as if he had his maternal duties even if he wasn't a female. He snorted as the pounding, trampling, dashing and darted thundered around the Thunderhoof Plains. Rickshaw could sense the blond coal's fear, he growled and drew back ears and lips, lowering to plunder on top of the colt nearly, to protect him from the trampling. Her stepped fully on top of the foal, pushing the foal's head under his white and black textured chest.
He tested the air if it was any certain unknown horse that was willing to kill any thing in sight. If so, Rickshaw was definitely and immediately protect to blond foal with his life, life yes, but none the less, claws and teeth as well. He snickered as the thundering came closer. He lifted his head up into the sky, emitting a menacing howl, due to his Chicotah blood in him, he lowered closer so his belly nearly touched the foal's back. He tested the air once more, smelled the scent over and over, but it was faint, and couldn't make it out. Was it the horse, Beltane, or what?

[Sorry for the long wait -_-j]
Ears rotated over her head, picking up the sound of the stallion's loud thuds as he galloped farther away. She arched her neck before raising her head to its full height. Her nostrils widened to breathe in the air's scents and her mind wondered where the stallion and foal had run off to.
She cocked her strip in the direction of the stallion's galloping hooves and trotted in that direction while keeping her attention on finding the lone colt. Who knows what trouble he may have gotten himself into while he had moved off, and without an adult's protection he may be killed if he came into contact with another predator. With her thinking on such terrible outcomes, Tempest's pace quickened into a racing gallop. Her senses brought the scent of the foal to her and her body changed slightly to remain on course.
A collie stood over the foal's small body and her instincts kicked into aggressive mode. Tempest drove her hooves into the ground and neighed at the figures before her. Her ears drew back and pressed against her head. Two-toned tail raised high as she closed in.

Beltane instinctively knew where the colt was situated in the grass--not only that, but the snarling canine perched on top of the young one was a heck of signpost.
"Easy, mutt--I don't mean the kid any harm," Beltane said, slowing immediately and pulling himself back to keep from crashing into them. He snorted, and gave a quick once-over of the area. No scent of any predators assaulted his nose, no sight of something lurking troubled his eyes, and no echoes of snarling hunters drifted to his twitching ears.
"I just wanted to make sure he wasn't in any kind of trouble." Beltane's turned about to face the approaching mare. He tossed his head and whinnied to her, letting her know that he had found the colt. He assumed that Tempest had been searching for the little one as well.
The greyish stallion lowered his neck to sniff the dog, hoping that the protective animal would refrain from nipping him on the nose. There were hints of human and wolfish scents lingering on the dog, but Beltane decided not to question the beast on that just yet. His intentions seemed well enough.
"You shouldn't wander off when it gets dark, little one," Beltane gently chided, blowing warm puffs of air over the shivering foal. "Horses like us need to stay together out here, okay?"
The gentle male raised his head, briefly wondering how many times he'd given this same calm lecture to headstrong colts in his lifetime. He wondered if fillies were as reckless. Seeing as they generally stayed with their mothers, he doubted it.
He walked a half-circle around the foal and settled into a comfortable standing position. Beltane locked his knees and let his sturdy neck droop. This spot was as good as any to spend the night.

He wiggled from underthe dog and nickered a thank you. Freewind figured it was late for the collie and it probably wanted to go home.. whever that was. He then trotted between the two; Stallion and Mare, feeling much more safe and comforted. But mainly, he just wanted to go home. He was sure the human boy was worried about him. Perhaps the two larger horses would accompany him there and then leave, as he knew some of the wild horses didn't like the humans very much.

Rickshaw blinked and leaped after the blond foal, and snarled at the paint horse, or so it looked, and curled up between the foal, mare, and the stallion. Stupid horses. "Watch your mouth, pony." He spat at the dust colored horse, rolling his eyes, resting his tired head on his paws. His eyes ached, especially their sockets, for some reason they had a throbbing pain. Shrugging it off, he groaned slightly and muttered to himself.

The mare gave Rickshaw a hard look and pressed her ears against her head. She had a wonderful urge to stomp on the collie's tail for his rudeness but she must admit he did keep the foal safe, if only for a little while. Might as well let it pass, for the time being anyway.
"Nothing to worry about, we've met with Freewind before, Collie." Tempest dipped her head so it was within a foot from the colt's and sniffed him to be sure. Yes, this was the blonde colt from before who resides with humans. Disgusting creatures these humans...
