Chapter 1
Lloyd
[Thorn kingdom, Thorn castle]
I awoke quite startled by the fact my past memories refuse to cease replaying themselves in my mind. I peered outside noting it was well before waking hour. Sliding off the bed, I began dressing for the day. I quickly checked myself in the mirror. I hadn’t changed at all since those days, same indium hair, body, and piercing eyes. All besides the large white feathered wings that I safely drew inside my back. I never revealed them to anyone so that I would be known to the world as to what I was. If I were, I would most likely be used for my powers. My powers include producing white flames, sensing energies emitted by specific people, energy blasts, flying, and reading minds, but of course I don’t make a habit of reading people’s private thoughts, and I don’t recall ever meeting another divine as myself.
Spending so much time thinking, I hardly heard the knock at the door.
“Enter.”
A service boy entered the doorway, “Pardon my intrusion Sir Lloyd, but his Majesty would like to have a word with you as soon as possible.”
“I will meet with him shortly.” The service boy carefully closed the door and left.
Not surprising that the king would like to see me, it was quite common for him to summon me this early. Lastly I pulled out my sword. Gave it a quick inspection and sheathed it, ready to meet with my lord.
I made my way past the great hall, its walls lined with colorful tapestry portraying the noble ancestors of the past and heroes of war. Many scholars, with their refined intellect, went from room to room with service boys, holding their many books, following at their heels. I caught a glimpse of a few squires practicing between themselves outside through the small, open windows of the castle. Numerous doors had small notches in them to dictate their interior’s content, many of which were spare rooms. Finally I faced the large carved doors that led to the throne room. I could sense the low yet powerful energy of my lord emitting from the room and the cool and patient energy of his wife along with her unborn child. Strange that she would be here in the condition she’s in. Placing a hand on the door about to enter, I froze. Another energy aroused my senses. I wasn’t familiar with this one, such an unusual feeling of reserved and fragile undying emotions. This wasn’t to be a regular visit with my lord.
“Ah commander Lloyd, we are glad you could join us at this hour. I trust I hadn’t disturbed you?” the king’s booming voice echoed menacingly off of the throne room’s walls. It too was lined with tapestry, though much longer than the ones out in the great hall. The room itself was as large as a small house with three carved pillars on either side of a long red carpet leading to the regal seats of the king and queen. The king himself was middle aged with few gray hairs visible beneath his jeweled crown. His shortly trimmed beard showed deep indents in his skin visible to the eye even from where I am standing. Despite that, he still showed to be in the prime of his life. His wife showed very few signs, if there were any, of her age. Asides from her enlarged belly, she was still very attractive with her golden hair, soft green eyes and fair skin as smooth as cream. The other presence I felt before came from a figure draped in a dark cape, hiding the entire body save for the lower half of the face. The figure turned its hidden face towards me just before I could answer my lord’s question.
“You hadn’t disturbed me, your Majesty.” I led myself in front of the throne taking careful note of the unknown person gazing out at me from under the hood. I planted myself beside the figure and took a bow towards the royals, yet kept an eye on the other.
The queen straightened herself as best she could with her enlarged stomach, “Lloyd, we have a favor to ask of you.” She took a look at the person beside me who bowed in response.
“I suppose it has something to do with our visitor here?” I asked.
The king nodded and spoke, “We would like you to accompany her on her quest. Its one of great importance to the kingdom.”
“You are our best warrior and one that we trust, so we ask if you would consider doing it?” the queen stated and repositioned herself again. I bowed in acceptance.
“I will accept your request.”
The queen smiled, “We appreciate what you are doing for us.”
The king nodded agreeably, “You will leave as soon as you both are ready. I wish you well on your travels”
“As you command,” I turned towards the woman, “May I know the name of my new companion?”
She lifted her hands gracefully, like one of noble blood, and pulled the hood away from her face. If I thought the queen still looked attractive, she was nothing compared to this woman. She couldn’t have looked to be over twenty with her fair skin and ocean blue eyes, which upon closer inspection appeared almost liquid. She only reached a little past my shoulder in height, but that would seem reasonably the height of almost any woman. Her most fascinating feature was her silvery blue hair, which grew down to her waist, I never saw a woman with silver-blue hair before, however I don’t think the entire kingdom of Thorn knew how I had obtained indium hair either so I didn’t question it. She gave me her answer with a voice so melodious that I expected to hear a harp to play in the background.
“My name is Lenneth.”

Lenneth and I had discussed our plan to meet at the gate the following morning. I arrived early only because I hadn’t been able to sleep. I surveyed the gate’s entrance and all the way down towards the square waiting for her. The sound of shattering of glass and hollering came from the outside of an inn. Passer-byes gathered around the commotion. Concerned I went to investigate the disturbance.
A middle-aged man lay speechless on the ground littered with sharp pieces of jagged glass. He didn’t appear injured, but he stared in the direction of the inn’s door. The door itself opened without so much as a creak to reveal Lenneth, my companion for the journey. She was dressed in what appeared to be a skintight black shirt with a small silver breastplate and she wore a long white skirt that was partially split in the front to allow for easier movement. Lenneth walked right up to the man with a dimly glowing sword in hand. Words were spoken which I hadn’t caught. The man nodded in agreement to whatever Lenneth had said and hurried away as fast as his legs could take him. Bewildered, I thought of walking up to her until I spotted an awkward little girl in shabby clothing peering timidly from the inn’s doorframe. With a motion from Lenneth’s hand, the little girl ran up to her. Lenneth had kneeled down and whispered quietly to her. The shabby little girl nodded and, after saying a few words and given Lenneth a hug, skipped away towards her house. I watched the little girl until she was out of view.
“She says her name is Nina. I think she’s going to be a good addition to working for the king and queen,” Lenneth confessed as she watched her go, she turned her face towards mine, “Shall we go now?”

[Ritual, wizard’s cave]
I smiled in the unrecognizable face of the dark wizard, cast in his blood stained clothes. The dim light from the cave’s entrance showed the remains of the ritual that had been cast the night before. The shuffling of feet and blood had smothered the summoning circle, and wax pools of what must have been candles lay around the cave’s rough floor and wax waterfalls on the rocky edges in the walls.
“So were is it?” I ask impatiently glancing around the hollow cave.
“She is gone…” the wizard replied, his voice weak in response.
“A woman?” I stared down the corpse of a sacrificed child, its body torn apart and its entrails splattered over the walls in a blind rage.
“Oh yes, quite untamable it seems. She fled to seek vengeance on the humans but not before getting to me,” the wizard’s voice grew hoarse and shallow; he was going to die very soon. A slump in his posture also proved this.
“Very well, at least you were able to release her before you…” the wizard dropped dead, blood gushing out of his mouth, “…died.”
I left the cave in a dignified matter, peering around the wasteland of the demon monster’s power. She would make a most powerful ally for the demon army, preparing it for the fight to end the entire human race. I was unlike humans after an experiment that changed my life. Many have said I had become unstable and inhuman after that, but who am I to judge myself. I only wish to provide myself with as many possibilities to get this human-demon war started. Is that such a crime to want war? After all I went to the trouble of releasing the demon monster from its prison in the underworld, I think it’s worth it.

Prologue
Shall I tell you a story?
Have when demons and demigods fought?
Of creatures of the night & feathers of the sky?
Of a battle, lasting for nought?
This tale began not long ago.
Over the mountains & across the fields.
To a kingdom of great men & thorns.
A great dispute would place & can’t be shield.
Riots & bloodshed.
Bodies littered the ground.
The men of thorns pray.
For a saviour to be found.
There behold.
From the darkened air.
A defender of the realm.
Beauty’s own, bright & fair.
Shall she fight alone?
With only spirit by her heart?
The journey is but a short one.
To rid of the evil being sought.
A disturbance in the balance of power.
The demons shall arise anew.
A monster with taste for the blood of man.
Will make a devil’s brew.
With help & determination.
The fair maiden stands before.
The mass of raging beasts.
An army of bloodlust & gore.
Fighting on & behold.
A hidden shadow watches past.
As the fiery struggle goes on.
A wizard of great power is beckoned at last.
With magic spell in mind.
The conjuror steps onto the plain.
To rid of the monster once & for all.
But it shall all end in pain.
The spell indeed worked.
The monster’s life is now sealed within.
Along with her the maiden shall fall.
Into the black pit away from sins.
