He could not hold back a soft chuckle. How odd. The two newest additions to the pack would be one large, grizzly like wolf, and the other a small, mousey one. Well, Variety was what he wanted. Couldn't get much better than that. His eyes crossed between them tiem to time, and ears twitched in thought. He liked many things about these two, and certainly didn't mind the small faults either of them had. Perhaps the laughing one could help lighten up some of the males around here. So much testosterone made them edgey sometimes.
First, he would address the larger female after pondering over both of their responses for a few moments.
"Avonaco," He started, turning to face her directly. "I will allow you to be one of my family, one of my pack and friends if you will swear your loyalty to the pack." A pause lingered, making sure she soaked that in. "And do keep in mind if you betray me, or this pack, you will be lucky to leave alive, or stay alive if we cross paths again after that time." His eyes enforced that. They were hard and serious. Breakbone did not take traitors lightly.
Then, he turned to the other, much smaller she-wolf. "Dira, I will allow you into these lands if you, too, will swear your loyalty to the pack. The same will become of you if you decide to betray us."
The large wolf stepped back and glanced between them still with those serious amber eyes. "Will you swear it? Or will you turn now and run?"

Emerald gaze held even with the Alpha's own, an odd air of seriousness had drifted over the area. And quite frankly, it was driving Naco nuts. Serious was meant for those who could not take a joke, but she supposed she could handle it for a little bit longer. If this was what it meant to swear herself into a pack, so be it.
"I swear by the stars that I will remain loyal to the pack, and if I understand what will happen if I betray you. I trust you do not need my permission to slay me on the spot, but I shall give it to you anyway. Traitors do not deserve the life that has been blessed to them, and that life should be taken away."
Quite a rare change of character for Naco to be speaking in such ... strange ways. Perhaps more of a blood lust could be given in her words, but that was certainly not the message that was meant to be conveyed. No - if anything, she preferred to stay away from the unnecessary slaughter of others. Caudal appendage wagged itself slowly, sure a whelpish trait but how could ones tail not be wagging non-stop at this moment! Being sweared into a pack, and with such a handsome leader no doubt. You can not have a crush on the Alpha! Her thoughts thundered, almost causing a startled gasp to escape her throat. Gulping the gasp down to her lungs, the expression of pure joy placed itself upon her facade. Thoughts of the strong looks of Breakbone were pushed aside, hopefully to never be recovered. If they happened to be recovered one day, hopefully it would be after a long while and the Alpha had already mated and produced spawn of his own.
If he didn't already, but there had been little trace of an Alphess about. Perhaps she hid herself well? Doubtful. Skull shook itself dislodging these thoughts, looking into the Alpha's gaze once more. No doubt if this was a scene in a movie of some sort, patriotic dramatic music would be sounding in the background. Very fitting to the mood after all.

Dira, strangely serious for a wolf of her attitude, dipped her head in respect, though her icy gaze held the alpha's strongly and without flinching. She opened her gray maw to speak, choosing her words carefully before letting a single pronounciation escape between the lacerating tips of her gleaming fangs.
"I swear by my soul, mind and bony that I will stay loyal to the pack, not turning back from battle unless it is inevitable and will cause more damage than good. I will uphold the pack's honor with my life, treat others as they should be and act fair towards newcomers, though I cannot do anything for them except call for an alpha or beta. I fully understand the consequences of betrayal, and would rather kill myself before giving the pack away or changing sides. I trust you will carry your sentence out justly, not letting me escape before i truly leave the world of the living."
It had been the only speech she had ever done in her life, next to the one she had done previously to get herself into the pack. She was not ready to leave yet, and probably wouldn't be for her whole life in this land. now that she had joined one pack, why leave it to try her chance elsewhere? It would make no sense. She dipped her head again, signalling that she was done, and waited for the alpha to speak once more.

A good response from both of them. He was quite pleased with the two new members of his "family." Both of them had spirit, and he could scent they weren't lying. Only a truly skilled wolf could cover the scent of a lie from his nose. The serious melted away as that warm smile once more appeared on his wolfy lips. All of those bone-crunching teeth were shown in his smile - what to a human would look like a threat to the other two. Breakbone didn't like humans for the mere fact they so badly mistranslated animal's gestures. Just because a wolf growled or bared his fangs didn't mean he was threatening. Or if a cat hissed didn't always mean it was bothered. He could understand Man's bodylanguage, so why culdn't they understand other animals? Ah well. Not like he had to worry about those two-legged creatures way out in the mountains. The Alpha dipped his head once in a nod. They were in.
"Then let me be the first to humbly welcome you to my home, to your new home, the Bloodback pack."
Those who had surrounded them seemed to relax and drift off into the mountainous forest. Eventually the whole pack would meet all the new members. Breakbone turned and started a slow trot towards the stream nearby where he lowered his head to drink.
"I will also tell you now that the pack will not trust you so easily from the begining," he said, with water driping from his chin. "Unlike many packs we've heard of many many lands away, the ones around these lands have been here as long as the wolf has existed. The family bonds are strong, but so are the old rivalries that never have died."
He shook out his coat, feeling as if there were forest debris in it. "Also, the Aryians to the south of the mountain are our close and trusted allies. They shed their blood for us, and we do the same for them without hesitation."
It was better to tell them the basics now, so they were prepared for it later.

As a warm smile spread over Breakbone's lips, Dira's body untensed slightly. Though he looked as if he had decided to accept them, looks could be deceiving. Don't judge a wolf by his face, as her mother had always told her, on and on and on. It was one of her lessons she wasn't ready to forget. Noting that the wolves she had scented earlier were moving quietly away, her eyes flicked back to the alpha, who was still there. Finally, his maw opened to let the words slip over his tongue, and what she had been waiting for came. Accepted. She was accepted. A wide smile of satisfaction, soon becoming a grin of pure, unhidden pleasure, sweeped up her gray face, a spark of joy glowing in the two icy pools of her orbs. Head tilted to look at Naco, sharing her happiness with the massive she-wolf, and she then turned back to face the alpha, the grin lessening a bit as she took up a submissive position, bending her left foreleg slightly in an awkward bow of respect. Nearly bursting out in laughter at the thought of what she probably looked like, she had to halt herself a moment before uttering a few words of gratitude.
"Thank you, sir," she said humbly, dipping her head respectfully. The sriousness quickly slipped off of her frame, however, and she resumed her previous position, still keeping head and tail below the male's level. All in all, considering his weighty size compared to her skimpy one, it was an easy thing. She acknowledged the news that Breakbone told them, knowing that new owlves in a pack were not immediately trusted or respected. they would both need to earn that, in battle, hunting, conversation or whatever means they could. And as for the Aryians, that was no problem. She would gladly give her life if an allied wolf's depended on it. She was not the best of hunters or warriors, but had a good heart in spite of her jokey and boisterous manner.

Flopped ears errected themselves once again, as the seriousness was not yet over. Damn it all, oh well, perhaps it would be over soon enough. As the lecture of pack life commensed, damsel did herself a huge favor and actually paid attention! Gasp. Skull bobbed at the correct moments as information sunk into the deepest part of the grey blobby thing within cranium. Cadual appendage continued its wag across the terrian, whipping up dust like a broom. She now belonged to a pack, no more aimless wandering and being chased off by stupid packs who no doubt would fall only days after she had left the area. Thoughts of the lands she had left were pushed far from her mind, it was their loss and now she had a pack to call her own. "Yessir." Her voice drifted across the open plains quite freely, no longer tethered to the word 'intruder.' It would be quite a joy to get to know this pack, and all who inhabbited it. Bloodback. Now that was a fine name, one that Naco could hold with pride. "May I ask something though?" Without awaiting for a reply, she continued onwards, "Who are the higher officials? Just so we know who to go to in times of trouble." An honest question, sure it would be figured out later when speaking with the rest of the pack, but if an attack came before then. Well - it's always better to be on the safe side is it not? Grizzly-like belle seemed to think so! {Short ; And sorry for not replying for so long - thwaps self -}

He could not help but give a small chuckle to their enthusiasm. Breakbone himself was very happy to have gained two more important members of his family. The Whitebacks were planning something, and even though their pack wasn't much bigger than his own, they always proved to be vicious in battle. The last one standing would be fighting tooth and claw. He found what Avonaco asked to be a good question. Perhaps he'd remember to tell newcommers who all was in charge from now on.
"I am the Alpha, of course. My Beta female is Shadow, who is much like my daughter as I raised her when her parents were killed by whitebacks. DarkTide is my head warrior, whom I would suggest going to first if there is trouble and I am not around. She is well able to hold off at least two Chicotahs at once for a while. Tevi is a warrior under her - another good fighting spirit she is. Pisca and Nighteye are the two Omegas, along with you two until I figure out where you belong. Pisca is extremely loyal and loved by this pack, as well as the Aryians. Never doubt his word. Nighteye is quiet. He came here as a stranger with fears, and thus has never moved up in our ranks."
Now on the subject of ranks, he pondered where to place these two, and if the pack would accept them in those placements. Avonaco he could see as a warrior or scout. He was fond of her size - it was what a true Bloodback should be. She seemed very loyal as well. She would do well as a guardian of some sort. Then his thoughts turned towards Dira. She was small, most likely fast. A spy, if ever he needed one, or place her on the borders to guard them, to warn the pack of tresspassers and run before they could kill her. It was partly up to them as well.
"Now then. Avonaco, I see you as a warrior or of something with strength considering you're nearly as big as myself. What position could you see youself in here?"
And he turned to Dira, the small femme. "You as well, Dira. Small and quick. A trickster and warner, able to flee in time and go unseen. What position do you see?"

Ears held attentive as the officials were passed over by word on mouth, all of their names were saved for later use. Shadow, Darktide, Tevi, Pisca, Nighteye. Easy enough I suppose, and probably easy enough to recognize. They'll hold themselves to their rank like all wolves do. Thoughts turned over in her skull, slow nods given at the correct parts through his introduction. Hopefully all of them would meet her gaze soon enough, and the pack would accept both Dira and herself with open arms .... well paws. Cream dusted mitt lifted itself and dropped in thought, before more words broke her out of the trance-like state she had put herself in.
Rank? What rank did she see herself in? Warrior as he stated, would fit her well. Years of travel and plain ol' genetics had given her the muscle to pummel anyone foolish enough to get in her way. But was there any other rank that would suit her far better? No. Nothing that came to mind at once, perhaps if she stuck around for a longer period of time Breakbone himself would see something else fit. Warrior was a good enough position to strive for at the moment. She had to remind herself that simply saying that she wished to be a Warrior did not make it so, she'd have to work her way up from lowly Omega into a position that was better suited. Once more, damsel brought herself back to reality and answered the Alpha's question.
"I think Warrior would be a fine position." Grin danced across her muzzle, "I really can't think of anything else that would suit me better." Her words spoke the truth, as was obvious in her voice. Naco couldn't help but wonder if their would be some ritual to go through to earn her the rank. Perhaps kill a few Chicotah? Eh, no need to worry about such things at the moment. Perhaps later speaking to Darktide would clear up the mystery's this pack still held to her.

((AGH. Teh lateness x.x -slaps meh-))
Dira nodded as Naco asked a question, agreeing with the inquiry. After all, they should know what wolves were highest-ranked, or the same rank as they were at the moment. If they showed respect to a wolf that didn't need it or disrespect to one that did, it would surely wipe any good points they could have aquired until now off the minds of any wolf there. She turned her icy gaze back to the alpha, waiting for the answer that would soon pass his jaws.
Beta Shadow, Head-Warrior Darktide, Warrior Tevi, Omegas Pisca and Nighteye. Easy enough, I think. I just need to see them. And then I'll be able to tell them apart. I just hope I don't forget any of them, she thought, biting her lip in a worried way unusual to her. Pushing the thought away, attention swept back to the male, grayscale body still held in a state of submission.
He spoke again, this time of the ranks they would have liked to occupy. She paused, letting the massive female speak her piece first, and then halted another moment to calculate the chances of actually gaining a rank so quickly. Nul and void, she thought with a hint of a smirk on her black lips. Eyes raised to look at the alpha, decision still bumping around inside her mind in a confusing game of pingpong.
"Well, warrior wouldn't be that great for me. I ain't the best, especially with my small size. I suppose scout, or maybe even spy would fit my qualities. However small they may be," she added quietly to herself, flashing a decicive smile.

(I apologize for my own late reply D: Been so busy)
Hmm. One warrior, one scout. It was nice to have them both, but would it be okay to give them the ranks right away? Could he trust them? It was a hard decision indeed. But they did swear, so if they did betray him, they understood that their punishment could be death. A wolf did everything possible to avoid death. At least, a smart wolf did. Tavi, their Delta, hadn't been quite doing her job as of late, nor training herself. As Delta rank, it was her job to look over the warriors, keep them in check, and fight herself. That's what a delta did. If she slacked anymore, he would put her down a place and perhaps appoint Naco to Delta. She seemed very capable of holding it. His ears flicked.
"Then so be it. On this rare occasion, I will appoint the both of you to those ranks for now. Avonaco, You will be under the command of Darktide and Tevi, and as for you, Dira, You are in charge of yourself for now, and your job will be to keep an eye on our borderlines for danger, alert us when there is a threat, and if I need you to, you will spy."
The Alpha was happy with his decision. A slight wagging tail showed that. He turned his back and started to walk back towards the mountain and the main forest.
"Come now and follow me into your new home."

If the Gods had granted Grizzly-like damsel mind-reading powers, she would have fainted out of pure shock. A blessing this was not the case, for how horrible would it seem for Naco to faint right when being accepted into the pack? Grin lit up her facade as acceptance was granted - she resisted the urge to tackle Breakbone and cover him in slobber of gratitude. That would be another thing that surly would cause disgrace. Instead - caudal appendage waved itself even more rapidly then it had before. She had been placed as Warrior, a rank that she found not only suitable but honorable for just being accepted into the pack. Skull lowered itself in respect to Alpha as well as gratitude for being placed in a rank that their was no possible way for her to screw up and disgrace all of Bloodback.
"Thank ya kindly, M'lord. I won't let you down - nor will I let down Darktide or Tevi." The tone had tried to be serious, but it failed horribly erupting with giddiness. Rump lifted itself to follow the male into the land and hopefully meet some of the members, the fastest way to really throw yourself into a pack is to show loyalty. And what better way then to meet members who had resided here for years? Mind reeled with plans of the future, even including a visit to Ayria once she was settled in. You had to get to know your allies before you could fully trust them in battle after all!
"Gladly."
