[Anyone who cares to join can]
Red and grey paws moved over the clay and iron contained stone rocks which made up the mountainside. The male's movements were silent and swift as he neared the border between the Bloodback's and the Whiteback's. It was still Bloodback territory, so any stray Whitebacks were not welcome by any means. And Nighteye was to make sure it stayed like that.
Yellow eyes scanned the border for any outsiders. There was none to be found now, but there may be others just waiting to cross over and cause trouble. Grey ears pricked forward, listening to the howling wind of the mountains. There wasn't any sound of wolves and the air held no scent of them either. Well wherever they were, he would wait for them here.

.ooc. Throwing Shadow in here.
.ic. Also patrolling the boarders, Shadow was constantly scenting the air. Familiar scents were always coming back to her and she pushed those aside for any Whitebacks or other enemies she was looking out for. Her job as Beta was almost the same as Alpha, but less responsibilities. She kept the pack safe as did the Alpha, and many other things that haven’t a need to be listed.
But now she smelled Nighteye. One of the Omegas here in the Bloodback Mountains. Feeling the need to go to him as her lack of company was getting to her, she trotted his direction. Seeing his familiar colors of red, gray, and brown, she blinked and slowed her pace. She was almost near him, but she stopped a couple yards away.
“Find anything interesting, Nighteye?”

A grey ear turned to the sound of another in the pack. He turned to face the dark fae, tri-colored head lowered in the deepest respects to her.
"Nothing as of yet, beta Shadow. There hasn't been any sign of the Whitebacks or of other wolven along this side of the border for a while now."
Since he was an Omega, Nighteye rarely exchanged conversation with the higher ranks, and considering he was on a low level at it was, he didn't dare pursue a higher one. Omega was suiting him just fine. Few responsabilites and he remained on his own for the most part of it. The only problems associated with this particular role was there weren't a lot of mates who would be interested in him, and even the notion of pups may be rejected by the alphas. Finding a mate would be a lot harder for him than others.

The beta stood by his side, scanning around as far as she could see and still sniffing for any of those foul scents those Whitebacks and other enemies carried along them while listening to Nighteye’s report to her. After he finished, she turned to face him as well, eyes showing her serious mood.
“I see. Also keep a look out for wolves who seek acceptance. They have been coming in a lot these days, and I would hate for one to be mistaken as an enemy.” At this, she immediately thought of Kuroda. He had been recently recruited by Shadow herself and now that she thought about it, he didn’t show any signs of being an enemy yet she still felt uneasy about herself carelessly letting him in without asking his reasons for joining. He was an old wolf, so she thought he could do little damage even if he tried to anybody and anything on the lands.
“But keep up the patrol, as always, Nighteye.” She waited a few more seconds to see if he would say something before she turned to leave. He tail swayed around impatiently now that she knew this side of the territory was already being looked after.

"Of course, I wouldn't dream of attacking an ally, let alone a possible new reqruit. Have there been any new members I have yet to see? Oh what am I asking... Someone of your respectable stature shouldn't need to answer such a degrading question. I should have gone to see them myself earlier when the pack was together. Hmm..."
Nighteye turned his yellow hues over the surrounding area, watching closely at the shadows and blind spots where lurkers may be hiding. There was still nothing on the wind that he could pick up by scent or ear and he looked back to the beta.
"If you have nothing you need to do right now, why not stay on border patrol with me? I won''t fair too well if we have an attack by the Whitebacks."

It seemed as though Nighteye knew his place as Omega, but Shadow knew him well enough that he was fine with the title. Indeed, the question was degrading to Shadow’s own rank, but she couldn’t help but answer; though she kept her answer short, like she hadn’t really answered it at all, really.
“No worries about it, it most likely hadn’t crossed your mind when the pack was together as you mentioned. In fact, there are a few new members running about exploring the lands. Perhaps in your spare time you could meet them.”
“I haven’t much to do at the moment, and there’s probably a scout or warrior patrolling where I was about to go. I’ll stay.” She took a step forward, eyes off the Omega now and were narrowed in a sign of her concentration and concern for the pack’s safety against enemies. There may be none for miles in diameter beyond the Bloodback Mountains, but nonetheless it was still good to make sure of it.

"Thats a good idea, I will be sure to take your advice on the matter and meet with them later on, preferably when I am not on patrol. Duties come first, such is everyone's place. Or at least it is what I believe. You may correct me if you believe me wrong..."
Ears rotated around, listening to the quiet melodies of the wind. Nostrils picking up nothing on the air currents that signalled any new arrivals, or enemies, to be found. Keeping his attention on his surroundings throughout the time, Nighteye spoke again, this time a bit more softly.
"I appreciate your company, beta Shadow."
He was being honest about it, for a lie would be a terrible thing to do to another in the pack, and Nighteye never resorted to lying. He rather enjoyed the company of others from time to time, it wasn't easy to get others to keep around him without them having to escape to their responsibilities as the higher ranked.

“Duties do come first, I’m glad you are dedicated to your work. It’s good to have a wolf like you with such care for a pack. We’re lucky. I haven’t the slightest thought of correcting you of that matter.” Shadow still wasn’t looking at him, but now she glanced over with a surprised look at his next words, which were in a softer tone. Her head lowered in a soft huff of a laugh. She smiled and said in the same tone, “I’m glad you do, I love spending time with you and the other members. I don’t get to do it much, and it saddens me.”
Shadow, as always, was speaking the truth. It was true that she didn’t spend much time with the other members since she was appointed Beta Female. She was constantly at work and the only free time she had was sleeping and walking around to greet new members when the boarders were already being securely patrolled.
“But just because I’m of a much higher rank than you doesn’t mean that you have to use my title along with my name. Call me Shadow if you would like, I don’t mind.” Shadow loved her title as Beta, but she liked her name more and loved it to be used once in a while alone instead of with “Lady” or “Beta”. She was Shadow, Not Lady Shadow, Beta Shadow, Just…Shadow…

[Sorry for the slowness]
"My apologies, Bet... Umm... Shadow..."
His tongue rolled around in his mouth. He never tried to say someone's name without their title before... It was just disrespectful to others. Being an omega... he didn't require the title with his name, it would make him sound unfit to serve in the pack if he was called an omega by anyone. That was just how it was, being so low that you thought yourself unworthy.
He took a glance at the beta, noticing the saddened expression barely visible on her face. He shouldn't just assume the higher ranks weren't lonely like himself, he made a remained not to... Turning his attention back to the border, Nighteye spoke once again. This time not as soft but still in a comforting voice.
"If you ever need someone to be around with, I'm always free to talk or just to be with."
