Golden hues glanced from every wolf which came into the circle. Most he hadn't got the chance to test yet, to check their value to the pack. Of course the Alpha didn't appreciate this very much, Nighteye believed it was necessary to at least test them, to check their strengths and weaknesses and help them improve upon them. Oh well, he can always get the next ones he found near the border.
Speaking of the borders, who was going to guard them if the Chicotahs or Whitebacks decided to attack or pilage? Besides the point that he hadn't seen any for quite some time, he figured they must be planning something, and that wasn't very good for the pack if they were caught off-guard. The urge to return to his duty to patrol the borders was overwhelming, just thinking that Whitebacks could be crossing over on his, his, watch. Ears pressed down to the sides a bit as he continued his negative train of thought.
His mind was taken back to reality when he heard the sound of Shadow's voice as she corrected one of the newer wolves. He wasn't even part of the pack and he was acting as such, he deserved whatever punishment the others would give him, even if it was just threatening words and snarls. A grey ear and eye darted to the male with just a slight rising of his nape. There was a sense of hatred in the air when he came onto the scene, which he undoubtfully concluded came from the newest wolf. Snuffing out a growl, Nighteye moved his gaze over each in the pack, letting his golden gaze rest on each one as he commited their faces and ranks to memory for later use, and even more time taken on the faces on the most highest ranked, the Alphas and the Beta, escpecially on the Beta. Already he could tell this was going to be an eventful meeting, there was so much to be told and lots of time to do so. He just hoped he would be able to get back on border patrol before some Whitebacks decided to cross.

Wiegraf got hostile response to what he thought was being courteous. He had stayed on the outskirts of the ring as a sign of respect to the true members of the pack. Considering he was seeking to join the ranks he thought it would have been rude to step in like he was one of them. His face had led them to the assumption that he was unhappy. He really wasn't, he was just like that. He bowed his head to the angry wolf who had spoken to him, "My appologies, I didn't realize courtesy was frowned upon..." He looked up and moved to join the circle. He thought to himself, Happy occasion huh? Then what's with the treatment? He figured he would just sit and listen; best to wait until the Alpha decided to approach him.
The Alpha called him in a most threatening manner, as if Wiegraf were an enemy. It seems he had made everybody angry. Wiegraf held up his head, "I am Wiegraf, I need a pack. Simple as that. It seems I have offended you all by standing outside of your gathering. That was unintentional. I meant it as a nicety and I appologize for whatever offense I may have commited. So, can I assume that you are the Alpha? What do you need me to do to prove my worth? Let me know and I will do it." He had put his game face on, that kind of speach was against his nature, but he had to pull it off, it was the only way in.

I would also like to note that posting in order is obviously not needed. Post when you need to - when you want to.
Golden eyes looked across his pack with a silent happiness. It made him very happy that nearly everyone was able to make it. Personally he excused a few from this meeting and if asked he would not reveal why, as he respected his family and would only let them tell why they couldn't make it. Then, again, they fell on the stranger. Breakbone was not just being mean to this one, he was in fact a little harsh to all strangers upon his lands. He trusted very little, especially any who didn't smell of Aryian or Youkol. That meant they were wanderers, or enemies. And they were a potential threat. He nodded though, appreciating the apology as he knew it had upset some members. "excuse Beta Shadow. We are a tight family here, and it is her duty to protect this pack and help keep it in order. Being together like this we are exposed to attack by our bordering enemies." another small nod, and he glanced over to Shadow, giving her a look to be at ease. "Come join our circle, Wiegraf. Once this meeting has been adjurned I will deal with your acceptance, for now just sit among us and listen to my words. Listen carefully if you wish to be part of us."
There was something about Breakbones growling voice that was so very different from other wolves. Of course, to each wolf ever feature and voice was different, but if looking from a humans point of view, many look alike and sound alike. Even to humans though, Breakbone's growl was different. It was very deep, but it's tone was calming and wise.
"I shall start this meeting first off by introducing your new alpha Female, and my new mate." He smiled a wolfy smile and turned his head to the side to look at Avonaco, giving her a loving nuzzle. "I expect you all to treat her as you treat me, as she holds every power I hold, and I will not question her motives behind exiling any of you. And if I find you disrespecting her, you shall face my jaws." The smile faded immediately, and he bared his fangs just to prove that point. Breakbone had a large jaw, which enabled him to lock it once in a bite. That was the whole reason behind his name.

OOC| Ep sorry I'm late
IC| Cayden slunk around the edges of the circle of wolves. It wasn't truly his fault for being late for something like this, after all he isn't even one hundred percent part of this pack yet. The ebon beta had asked him to attend this meeting.
Dark blood red paws shuffled, Cayden couldn't remember the last time he was this nervous about something, then again nothing has ever happenned to him that was of much importance. He was trying out for a new pack and he didn't think being late was a good first impression. He was going to make it up and fix this little problem.
Just as Cayden decided to make his presence be seen, a male's voice cliced the silence. "Stranger? Was he speaking to me?" Cayden did not know he wasn't the only wanderer to travel the mountains of the Bloodback pack and panic surged through his body. The wolf that spoke seemed pretty annoyed. Cayden emerged from his shelter to ask "What did I do wrong?" when he noticed that the earlier phrase was not directed at him but another wolf. Cayden exhaled sharply, glad that he was not the one in trouble though he could have probably wormed his way out of it. Sensing that this wasn't the time to barge in Cayden still lingered around the side; looking for the female whom had told him to come; in case he was blamed for intruding like the other.
Cayden found the beta female as the one known as Wiegraf excused himself and the alpha continued with the meeting. The alpha was definately a demanding sort of fellow, Cayden would have to watch himself when around him. Feeling unknown and left out Cayden cleared his throat, he wanted to see the male's reaction to his presense before saying anything just in case.

Different situated herself beside the beta. She knew that this was purely an act of kindness, but she couldn't help but feel as if her singling out was a shameful thing. She nodded dutifully when the alpha told her to relax, though during the nuzzle-fest she merely sat there, looking confused. She did not consider herself a part of this pack, not until she had been confirmed a rank and had others she could consider friends. There were several she had met and been friendly with, but it wasn't the same. A friend was different somehow.
The she-wolf opened her maw for a moment, intending to question Breakbone about her rank, but at that moment he began to speak. She clamed her jaws shut hard, and then sat there listening attentively to the conversation that flittered about and the leader's words. She symathised with the stranger whom had not been accepted as a member of the pack, instead being scolded harshly as an intrudor for what he considered courtesy. A single ashen ear twitched back at the voice of a newcomer declaring, "What did I do wrong?". She turned to steal a glance at him, tilting her head in curiosity. What was he yelping about, she wondered? Ah, well, I'll have to hang around for a while after the meeting anyway, since I must speak with Breakbone. Might as well just wait for the last chance to talk and listen to all the others as well. Different liked to listen.

((I'm soooooo sorry!!! I haven't been keeping up with my posts. Things have been a little crazy for me and I didn't even go into the Bloodback territory! *Grovels* PLEASE FORGIVE ME! I know I'm late!!!! )) The dark-furred gamma wandered into the gathering, noticing how everyone had gathered long before her. She was slightly ashamed that she had not heard the pack call, and she had not intended to ignore her leader. The one-eyed she-wolf came in amongst the members and settled on her haunches next to Pisca. She was always glad to see the lively omega, who had become one of her friends since entering the pack. She smiled at him and wagged her tail in greeting, but said nothing. Her attention was now turned elsewhere, and she eyed the new alphess with approval. Breakbone had chosen a fine mate. Her single emerald eye searched the faces of her packmates. There were far more than she remembered, and she felt that once this concave was completed she must introduce herself. Although Battlewhisper preferred to keep to herself it was best to know everyone in the pack. The Gamma female searched out her Alpha's eyes and bowed her head in apology for her tardiness. Then, with her dual tone tail curled around her paws, she sat motionless as Breakbone made his speech to the clan.

Another glance at Weigraf, and then he was forgotten for the time being. This was a happy occasion! One that filled her stomach with butterflies with the horrible assertion that half of the pack would riot at her being Lady Alpha. Stop it! Most of the pack has arrived, and almost all of them have smiled at you. Lay that fear to rest, none of them are going to riot! They respect Breakbone to much. Even with the knowing that everything was going well, that doubt still lingered and jeered at her every five minutes like clock-work. Emerald gaze worked its way around the circle, almost every wolf in it now shared in her scent. The thought was comforting, and a single glance at her beloved was all she needed to be content and happy with her new position and new found duties. Yes - everything was going to be okay!
Soon Breakbone began to speak, and she returned his warm glance and nuzzle with one of her own. The threatening words that came from her jaws she did not comment on, and yet she had the feeling that it was her turn to speak. Her turn to introduce herself to the pack, her beloved had opened the floor and it was time to officially take her place beside him in leading the pack. "I'll try my best to earn the respect that you all so obviously have in your Alpha, and don't worry. I won't ruin the pack in anyway." A grin found itself on her cheek bones, and she could only hope that her comment would raise a chuckle instead of an awkward silence that had happened so many times before when she had attempted to be funny. Most didn't get her sense of humor, or did get it and didn't find it funny in the least. Ah, but that was life.

Wiegraf had a laugh at the Alphess' cynical humor, it was much like his own. Ruin the pack, eh? It would take a good lot of screwin' up to tear this pack apart. Looks like I found myself a half-way decent place to stay for now. Wiegraf knew that the pack was better than he would let himself give it credit for being, but that was his nature. Now all he had to do was wait for Breakbone to adress him so he could find our what he had to do to get in.

His newly appointed Gamma finally made her way into the meeting, and Breakbone was not at all pleased with her tardiness. It was one thing being a minute or two tardy, but she had walked in as the meeting had already started and was progressing quickly. He gave her a hard look - which was rare to find in his eyes since he was often laid back and humourus with the pack. He would talk to her later, along with a couple of others he had matters to address. His ears twitched as his beloved spoke, just as he had hoped she would do. She was now his equal, and it was time for her to show the pack she could be his equal. His eyes shifted from her and back to the wolves. He had seen another new face come tardy, but he could tell this one was not part of the pack yet. That was fine. He just expected those to listen, and listen good.
"Now I am sure many of you know that there is war brewing. It will not be like the pety war we had a couple of years ago with the Whitebacks. This will be the war our ancestors faught. Every pack, and every creature will be involved. There will be no escaping." For a moment he paused, looking across them all. "Friends will turn on friends. There will be chaos and confusion. I feel it in my aging bones, and I know the story of the ancient war those thousands of years ago like I know these lands. Soak this in - even those of you who are not of this pack yet, it will afect you too no matter what."
He would pause another moment to let this information soak in. The news was no exactly good news, and he knew they would be going over this in their heads with slight panic.
"As long as we are loyal to one another, we will be able to survive. If you question your loyalty to me, to Avonaco, to these lands, and to eachother in any way at all, then the war will devour you. I may call upon Cronic and Vette to have their pack meet us at our border lines so we can all meet eachother, and you can know who our allies are. I have watched many weeks now, and the Chicotah pack has grown outrageously large. Do not underesteimate those wolves. I have spoke with Kein in private on many occasions that none of you have ever known about. He is a very wise wolf, very noble and strong like myself, but unfortunately he, like all Chicotahs, is blinded by his want for revenge on the Aryians." As he spoke of Kein, he looked off into the distance, wondering if the old wolf had finally been killed, or if he was hiding and plotting. "Chicotah could easily take out every single one of us if they worked together. However, to our advantage they do not work as a pack. As for the northern Whitebacks, we haven't much to worry about. Their numbers are small, and their spirit is nearly dead. They wont stop until the last one falls." He shrugged them off. Whitebacks were not much of a threat anymore. He had made sure of that some years ago.
A bit tired of talking now, he glanced out to the pack, and then to his mate. He hoped this wouldn't alarm her too much. Now, back to the pack. "Does anyone have any comments or questions about this?"

Battlewhisper understood the look Breakbone gave her, but she did not back down and cower as some others might have. Her pride would not allow her that. She laughed only slightly at the Alphess's humor and then listened to the briefing that Breakbone gave.
"So tell me, what position do we intend to take, Alpha? Will we be offensive or defensive?"
Battle turned her head so that she could look at him with her good eye. Her gaze was steady, but not challenging. The former alphess of the rogues was letting him know that she had ideas, but they would depend on his standing during the war. Her emerald gaze sparkled with a tinge of malice. War was fun, it was all she had known when she ruled. It was a summer pastime for her former pack, lasting through until the leaves began to turn. It had been quite some time since she had played war.

Old tired eyes peer out at the collected wolves as more numbers approach, the haze milky blue that almost appeared to be verging on blindness, if not for the distinct clarity in the black pupils…
Pale eyes sweep over the low ranking wolves firstly as she settles her self near Breakbone’s side on the flat land below. Haunches hit the earth with a tired thunk as she eases into her post.
The majority of those arriving seemed to be well behaved enough, but Wiegraf’s unusual behavior does catch her watchful eye. Though outwardly she returns no hostile movements or sounds…the old warrior doesn’t let him linger out of sight for long.
There is though, enough of her attention spared to give the new Alpha female a through inspection. With her position rather close to the risen pair she need not raise her voice far to be heard …and it would likely only be heard by the pair or any who happened to be considerably close to them. “Mmm’lady. Later this evening, would you have time to walk with me?”
The request made she redirects blue pools to keeping watch over the new comers…ready to settle any disputes …firmly. Should they arise…though it seemed Shadow was on the ball with four paws. Inwardly the old warrior smiled, and even cocked an ear in the other’s direction. Should she spare a second glance a respectful twinkle is what she would be met with. It seemed the elder had very much so been impressed by her putting down the young whippersnapper…. and saved her the effort of doing so her self!!
More energy for the greetings, the nuzzles and nips she received warm the old girl, and are returned with affection that for the brief moment of the contact expressed her Loyalty in a way words would do no justice to.
Holding no questions, she awaits her sign to share her news. Seated, slumped weary, if Atlas had a weight on his shoulders then this wolf had something similar. It was if her time had run out and she was running on bare fumes….or so it appeared at least.

Post by Tevi on Jul 14, 2006 0:47:12 GMT -5
Tevi sat next to Shadow, quietly although not unnoticably. Her larger frame shifted every few seconds in an obvious attempt to keep herself calm. This wolf wasn't one for sitting still in long periods of time.
At the announcement of Avonaco's newly appointed position, Tevi let out a loud bark of acceptance. She'd always liked Naco, and she'd surely make a fine alphess! The couple most definately could have puppies soon - and Tevi would teach them to play, and perhaps at a later point, how to fight. She figured that between her and Darktide, any puppies of this pack would become amazing warriors. But, that was the future - as for now, Tevi was overwhelmed with excitement of Naco's position. She looked the new alphess in the eye with a nod and grin of aprovement.
The conversation soon headed for a more serious topic, and Tevi (tried to) put on a concentrated expression, but quickly found her tongue lolling out of her mouth. Delta listened to and watched her brother's speech, nodding to herself every once in a while. She trembled slightly as he mentioned just how great this war could be - a lot of this pack would wind up dead, and that thought scared her. But this wolf would fight! She would protect the pack with her life!
Breakbone's mention of speaking with Kein startled her. That old jerk? His pack was most definately growing - their smell was becoming prominent. They wouldn't attack Bloodback (at least she hoped), but they would most definately attack their allies the Ariyans. Although, she had heard from the winds that they were more at war with themselves than anyone else...
Her brother asked for comments, so, on instinct, Tevi opened her mouth and spoke. "You're right in that we need to be loyal with each other. We're a strong bunch of wolves, and we unarguably have some of the greatest warriors Rurita has seen," she eyed Breakbone and Darktide, "and I don't have much worry that, with the Ariyans, we could certainly take down Chicotah - and, if they bothered, the pety Whitebacks." She laughed at her mention of their weaker brothers. "But, I think our main focus should definately be to train stronger warriors than we have now - we never know what kind of wolves Chicotah could have. They're vicious, and we need to be prepared for that."

Wiegraf saw Tevi's remark as an opening for himself, "Well, if you want stronger warriors, you'll need new pack mates right?" He held his head in a dignified position, in a way that made him feel authoritive, even though he knew he wasn't, "Then if you need more warriors, then tell me what I need to do to gain your trust and to become a pack-member." Hopefully his rousing little speech would help the jog Breakbone's mind into remembering that he had yet to deal with the new-comer. Wiegraf walked over to Breakbone and the new Alphess, bowing his head in a gesture of humility and respect, "What would you have me do?" He hoped that this would be the last time he would have to behave this way, that he could return to his more normal demeanor after he was accepted into the Bloodbacks.
