Curious expression crossed his face as creamed paws rested atop his skull, that was quite the strange place to have paws rested upon! The curious expression drifted into the content smile that always seemed to come out when pleasant company was extended. For the moment, only three wolves really deserved seeing that smile. Lilah - of course - , Vette, and Cronic. Perhaps that would change in the future, perhaps it wouldn't. One could only hope that the old stiff could loosen up for once, and take on a more care-free attitude toward life. "Why thank me for telling the truth?" He asked casually at the affection he had received, correctly guessing it had come from the compliment that had danced on his breath only moments ago. At her comment of Vette, the smile melted into a rueful grin that soon disappeared in that content smile once more.
"Just making sure." He replied, dropping one lid in a wink before silencing himself to listen to the rest of her words. "I suppose they did, in all honesty I haven't thought about it much lately. Those morons who can't keep who leads them straight have been getting to me I suppose." He, of course, meant the Chicotah. "Indeed - and without newcomers, I do not believe we'd have much of a strong pack." Considering this for a moment, he nodded as if agreeing with himself.
"I was planning to take a bath later," He stated with a chuckle as she worked the dirt out of his coat. "Oh - I'm sure we will. For the sweet smell of Ayria attracts wolves like a rotting carcass attracts scavengers."

The charismatic wink that was delivered her way made her give a chuckle that shook her chest. That look certainly did suit him, much more than the stern expression he wore next. Lilah couldn't help but give a soft frown as Rouch revealed his irritations with business involving other packs as of late. But she could hardly pity him for it; he had taken on the role as Beta himself and therefore knew he was to take on high responsibilities.
"Whenever you need to forget about those duties, you can just come and see me," her frown morphed into a grin of sincerity. Apart from her role as Delta and a lvoer of greeting newcomers, she felt it was her next job to throw a bit of cheer at her packmates. Spirits knew they needed it. "That's not a very pleasant analogy," she laughed out quite loudly at Rouch's description of Aryia's appeal to newcomers and pawed at his ear playfully once more, happy to see it flop about.
Twisting her body in a somewhat awkward position, her mouth clamped onto his maned scruff, biting softly in a playful manor and yanking him gently as she scrambled to her feet. "Bath time!" she mumbled between his fur, emerald eyes lighting up devilishly as she attempted to drag him toward the river.

Startled grunt escaped him at the rumbling of her chest, and thus vibrating of his skull. It remained in place though - lifting only once to shake off a fly who thought he'd found a home. "Oh don't frown." He stated, incredibly dis-liking the appearance of such a thing on her face. Unless of course she was upside down, for what is a frown but a smile turned upside down? "It makes your pretty little face look old. And heaven knows you don't want to look old!" Grin returned to his face, banishing the stern look off into never never land to return sometime in the future when it needed to. At least Rouch was learning - and that's all that can be asked.
Head bobbed up and down at her remark, probably causing a sort of tickling sensation upon her chest. "I'll hold you to it, then." And he would, every time that part of his mind screeched out that he was starting to feel old - he'd forget whatever he was doing at the time and prance off to speak with Delta. (Though, at times she only made him feel even more old!) At her laughter the grin drifted wider, and his head moved side to side on her chest as if the canine version of a shrug. "It all depends on how you look at it. You think it's not pleasant because ... I don't know. You're just weird!" A chuckle rumbled through his larynx and into the open air. Ah how nice it was to ignore the duties of Beta and make fun of Lilah here.
A startled cry escaped him as his relaxed position was suddenly pulled away. Startled gaze drifted over to Lilah who now held his scruff in her mouth, all at once her words filled his ears. The grin faded into the whining face of a child (Though the grin lay just beneath), "But Mama! The dirt makes me look handsome! Now the girls with never notice me!" The last syllable of every word was dragged out, despite his protests he allowed Lilah to do as she pleased. He did need a bath after all!

Lilah grinned with mischief dancing all about her form, clamping a little harder after testing his fur's thickness. He was a big brute and would hardly feel a thing at this rate, and besides, he continued to tease after building her bashfulness up after all the compliments. "Just weird am I?" she tugged harder feeling her back paws enter the water, her grip slipping a little on the slippery sirface but able to maintain an upright position.
"Now now, the girls shouldn't like you for your dashing looks young Rouch," she couldn't help but use his technique, paying him a compliment all the while teasing him at the same time with a roll of her eyes. A playful growl rumbled through her throat as she dragged him further toward the water, however she gathered she was only gaining ground because Rouch wasn't fighting her. With another confident tug her back paws slipped out from underneath her, causing her to yelp with surprise but clamped onto his neck harder as she began to fall, eyes clenched shut and waiting for the Beta to fall ontop of her in their chosen bath location.

Though he felt hardly anything at all - beside a bit of pressure - he whined as if a swarm of angry hornets had made him a pin cushion. "I guess you are." He replied, loosing the pup act for a grin before his whining facade returned at full swing. Now water had started to drift up and over his coat, and feeling that he most enjoyed. It started with his rump, as he was trying (with not an ounce of strength) to free himself from the grasp of doom.
"Mama! I thought you loved me! Love means you never wash away the dirt!" He continued to drag it out, only masking the fact that was approaching eight years old. And odd sight if any other creature of the pack chose to come around - but at least they would know that Ayria was not all about business. You could have some fun and games too, as long as you were ready to deal with the consequences. A loud 'Oof!' escaped him as he was hurdled atop of Delta. Scrambling off as not to crush the life out of her, he grinned ruefully. The grin was rather strange on Beta, as he now had the appearance of a drowning (or rather drowned) rat. "Serves you right!"

Lilah felt the air being squeezed out of her as Rouch's weight came down on her. Bubbles surfaced from her position beheath the reasonably calm water of the river, emerald eyes opening wide as she scrambled to the surface as the Beta's weight was removed. She broke into the air with coughs and splutters, water spraying out in all directions. Soggy paws dragged her lithe form from the water, long fur covering her eyes and making her twice as heavy. She slumped with another cough, snorting in his direction at his comment before shaking her pelt dry before pawing at his ehad to keep him in the water.
"Maybe you should go on a diet Rouch," she smirked and pawed at him again, "You could have drowned me." She shook out her pelt once more, fur finally lifting from her emerald vision to chuckle in amusement at his own appreance. He hardly looked matured and regal anymore, but more like a drowned pup after having his pelt styled by his old fashioned mother. "You're a real she-wolf magnet now," she tried desperately to keep a straight face but failed miserably.

The grin faded at once to be replaced with concern at the horrible appearance and sound of dear friend, "Are you alright?" He asked at once, perhaps one of the first times in the conversation he had not added a laugh or said it with sarcasm. The moment faded away with time as she spoke again, and the grin returned. He said nothing at the moment, only paddled about the water taking his bath like a good boy. Once he found himself content with the lack of dirt scattered about his fur, ivory paws scrambled onto land while he dropped his rump next to hers and shook with all his might, "I'm not fat! I'm big boned, and no diet good fix that!" A smirk danced across his maw, amused by his own wit. Another shake was given, spraying water in all general directions.
The shake was repeated once more, resulting in him having the appearance of a rather fuzzy panda bear. This (in its own way) was far worse then the drowned rat that he had dawned only moments ago. His fur stuck in all directions, impossible to tell where the body started or where it ended. Just a mass of fur that would drive him crazy until it finally settled down. "I always am."

Lilah sat comfortably, pelt feeling fresh and clean despite it's unexpected waterlogged sensation. Forest green eyes narrowed in a mock glare as Rouch exited the water after wading around in quite an amusing fashion for a while. His thick fur clung to his broad shouldered form while parading about after his bath, almost in a prideful dance. She pawed with a giggling yip at the advancing Beta but yelped softly as he shook his pelt dry violently, managing to drench the small wolfess.
"Rouch... I am not amused...," she clearly was and flinched once more with a laughing moan as he shook again, the image of him fluffed up like a newborn after being caught in a windy storm. Water dripped all about her and a wolfish smile crept across her maw while she began to paw at him once more. "You look... like a bunny," she snorted pawing after a moment's thought at his flopped over ear.

Innocent grin crossed his face at the mock-glare and comment that were given to him. It was the kind of grin a pup would use when caught with his hand in the cookie jar ... or snout in the carcass if one would prefer. Content with Delta now being water sogged, his front limbs slunk down and he took a laying position. So much exercise today! He'd be sleeping by a baby come supper. Jaws opened in a yawn, exhaling breath that could cause even the dirtiest canine to take a step back and exclaim in disgust. Luckily the yawn was facing upwind of Lilah - so it was doubtful she'd have to suffer through it.
"You look ...." He paused for a moment, trying to find the correct word to describe her appearance. Not finding it he just went with his first instinct, "Wet." Head shook itself trying to cure a sudden tickle that had occurred when Delta pawed at his ear. Now resting it on his limbs, he rolled his eyes toward her as if urging her to do something interesting.

Lilah noticed the large yawn stretching the Ayrian wolf's jaws as wide as they could go without straining painfully. The Delta was still quite alert but all the surprises and activities taking place on this day were slowly draining Lilah of her 'endless' energy. It appeared that information was but a myth and she was indeed a mortal wofless that had to rest once in a while.
"Very creative there Beta," she snorted at his 'come back' lowering her paw as he rolled his eyes almost in a challenging way, "Well, perhaps you would like to experience the state I am in first hand..?" Her eyes narrowed in a playful and mischievious grin advancing for the Beta in a coueplf of steps before draping her body as heavily as she could over his middle, soggy fur weighing down his fluffy appearance with a delighted laugh.
Her chocolate and creamed fur mixed with his natural shades and let her body lay limply over his, not very comfortably but enjoying herself neer the less. It was hard to find another that she could get away with such behaviour. Even the Alphas might have drawn a line at this.

(( This RP has been taking place quite a while before Ruskin entered Aryia, sorry. If you like, I will PM Rouch to ask nicely whether she would post in the 'misfit' thread. ))

A lazy eye drifted over to observe Lilah first hand, and at once noticed that she had a drowsy air to her. Nothing that proved she was dead tired, but enough to bring a grin to his face. So she was mortal after all, one could only pray this a side she would not show often. For her immortal energy had granted even the most skittish new comers a feeling of acceptance. Rouch was damn proud to have her at his side, though that information was classified and would only be let out under the strictest of orders.
Before he could reply to her question, she had flung herself atop him and now he felt very much like a drowned rat again. "Thank you oh so much." Though his tone was cynical the grin that danced over his face was not, in fact it was rather refreshing to be dowsed in the water again. "I'm the one who needs to diet?" Came his voice again, laughter dancing behind it. A few weak struggles were given, but she really wasn't all that heavy and so he did not mind having her weight piled atop him.
Chocolate tail thumped the ground, causing dust to spew in every direction one could imagine. It soon layed itself to rest, content with laying there without a proper use at all. Delta atop of Beta - most certainly a Kodak moment.

His cheeky rebutal was quite unexpected and Lilah gave a shocked laugh, mouth gaping playfully down at him before narrowing her eyes in a playful challenge. "Perhaps Rouch should be on that diet," she gave a wolfy, tooth-filled grin before wiggling over his solid form to latch her teeth softly onto his ear, gnawing and tugging with a gentle growl and chuckle.
Her own tail thumped an off-beat rhythm to his own and she continued to gnaw happily and affectionately on the ear. She released it after a short while with a chuckle before licking it with another grin. "Tastey," her form slowly sank from clambering over his, to the ground beside him, her petite frame propped against his, head still leant across his broad neck with another wag of her chocolate-creamed brush.
Rouch would definately have some defensive chatting to make if another stumbled across their play and affection. Lilah would have shrugged it off and perhaps pounced on the other wolf, but she hoped it would just be she and Rouch for a while. It was a rare time indeed that they spent moments like this together with comfort and ease.

A snort and a roll of his eyes were given to her comment, "How about we go on it together? The whole pack will marvel at all the weight we've lost." What an odd conversation was going on, hopefully no one would walk by - for then all respect that Beta assumed others had for him would wash out with the tide. And other mutterings would spread throughout the pack that Rouch simply talked tough, he did not uphold it in the least. This thought was waved away by the odd sensation of slobber upon his ear. Dragged out of his thoughts by Lilah he chuckled slightly, as she slid off and made her comments of the taste of his ear. "Is it now? Well, I just had a bath, so it better be.[/b]"
Did that make any sense at all? Not really, but that didn't matter at all, now did it? "Are you enjoying laying all over me?" He asked curiously, with a soft chuckle.

The sun began to peek through the scattered clouds and warmed her pelt causing her to sigh and snuggle into Rouch's neck, gazing up at him fondly, face alight with joy. "Naturally," she grinned up at his question and settled her head back down to rest against his form, legs fanning out to her side as her eyes drifted shut to take in that glowing sun's heat.
"Rouch?" she murmured into his fur with a somewhat tired sigh, "I care for you alot..." She wasn't sure where the comment had come from or what meaning lay behind it, but she felt it needed to be said. Rouch was a 'rock' in her eyes, and she was still yet to figure out his role to her. A friend, a commandor, or something more? It didn't matter though she decided. All he needed to know was that she would stand by him.
